Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) is a proactive approach to put strategies in place for all children while building in support for those at risk for and/or those who receive special education services for behavior.
SW-PBS School Re-Commitment
The State and/or Regional Consultant Commits To:
- Providing training and training materials
- Providing ongoing technical assistance and coaching
- Training of district/school teams
- Presentations to staff
- Assistance with data decision making, data collection
- Create a network of SW-PBS school in the region
- Conducting Institutes for exchange of information
The School District Commits To:
- SW-PBS becoming a top goal for the next 3-5 years and is included in the District's CSIP Plan
- Providing specific funding commitments within the annual school budget to support training for implementation of SW-PBS (Related costs such as travel, substitutes, materials and supplies)
- Providing for release time for PBS Leadership Team ongoing training and technical assistance activities (see Trainings and Meetings for Participating Schools)
- Designating a district representative as the SW-PBS District Coordinator and contact
The School Building Commits To:
- SW-PBS becoming a top goal for the next 3-5 years and is included in the School Building's CSIP Plan
- Designating a building administrator that actively leads and supports implementation and the SW-PBS School Team
- Participation in state level and regional level training and technical assistance activities (see Trainings and Meetings for Participating Schools)
- Operate a student information system that can be used to determine information on discipline office referrals by problem behavior, by location, by student, by time of day, and the number of referrals per day/month
- Establish, define, and teach schoolwide expectations
- Providing resources, time, materials, and people to support implementation of new practices/procedures
- Participation in school assessments on implementation
The SW-PBS Team Commits To:
- Actively participate in on-going training and technical assistance activities
- Meet at least monthly using a meeting agenda and recording minutes
- Use data at every team meeting and for decision making
- Will complete appropriate checklists, surveys, forms, and record keeping procedures in a timely manner and submit to regional consultant
- Disseminates information about activities and accomplishments to the school as a whole
- Develops capacity for internal training and coaching to sustain implementation
- Collect, analyze, and review schoolwide data to guide implementation and action planning
- Designating and supporting the school internal coach in developing coaching capacity
By signing this commitment, the district and school site are agreeing to the above expectations for successful implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Supports.
