Brief Biography
Betty has worked at the Tier 1 levels of SW-PBS in two regions of Missouri and brings that experience to the Tier 2 position in the Southwest Region.
Her career in education spans all levels over a period of 10 years, with the majority of classroom teaching time spent as an elementary teacher. Betty had the privilege of being part of the STARR Teacher program for 2 years in the South Central region. During that time she had the experience of working with schools, teachers and administrators; presenting workshops and using data to help schools make decisions. Betty received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Masters in Counseling. She is certified as a K-12 school guidance counselor and is currently in the process of getting her state licensure in professional counseling. The experience of working with schools and the knowledge base that comes from counseling makes being a PBS consultant ‘one of the best career opportunities I’ve ever had.’
Although Betty has always called St. Clair, Missouri her home, she, and her husband Bob, made the move to Springfield shortly after taking the PBS position. They have two children, Amber and Jason. Both are graduates of Missouri State and live in Springfield also. In her free time, she likes to cook, take walks and spend time with family.
